boutique group of modelling consultants based in
The European Spreadsheet Risk Information Group (EUSPRIG)
an interest group that meets once a
year to discuss current thinking on spreadsheet methodologies and spreadsheet
risks. This group is well represented by
both leading academics and key industry figures.
A web site providing suggested
solutions and advice to many Excel problems.
Amongst other add-ins available on this website is an
add-in called Explode, perhaps the most widely
used auditing add-in that exists
to date. The add-in allows rapid tracking through dependent/precedent trees.
The add-in is freeware.
Without doubt the single
most useful resource on the web when it comes to Excel issues. Usenet is a
collection of discussion of groups that predates much of what we currently
consider to be the ‘internet’. The discussion groups are structured in a tree
structure and cover just about every conceivable topic. The discussion threads
can be searched in a similar way you would search the World Wide Web using for
example Googles web search facilty,
however instead of asking Google to search the web you must ask it to search
the Usenet. When searching the Usenet you will need to limit your search to
only the Excel discussion groups to obtain meaningful search results. Just like
searching the web, it takes a little time at first to get to grips with Usenet
but you will find it a worthwile investment of your
time (and not only for Excel but any other queries you may have). To find out
more about Usenet and its history just type Usenet into any web search engine.
